Clean up the City! In many neighborhoods the streets, sidewalks and yards are cluttered with litter and garbage. Buy a streetsweeper and sweep streets weekly, not monthly! Weeds are everywhere! Start by cleaning out tree wells and weeds along streets and sidewalks. Issue warnings and fines for violations of City Ordinances. Demand landlords properly maintain their properties. Fine property owners for dumping trash on the streets and back lots. Improper signage has multiplied throughout downtown. Require property inspectors to issue tickets instead of simply ignoring the vast majority of infractions. Fix the streets and sidewalks..... and the alleys which are important passageways for residents and businesses. Install street light on darkened streets. Beautify neighborhoods! Create gathering places, mini parks with benches, small tables. Cut dead trees, plant shade trees, hang neighborhood banners to enhance neighborhood identity. The City is a mess! Rescue York City - clean it up!
