In 2015, the City Council voted to establish the Rocky Ridge Entertainment District. Entertainment Districts are possible due to a state law that allows for up to three designated districts (areas) where patrons can consume alcohol from open containers if they are outside a licensed restaurant or bar in the district. The hours the district is in effect are limited to noon-9pm Sunday through Thursday, and from noon-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. However, the city manager has the right to issue a waiver if an approved event requires additional time.

During the May 21, 2018 City Council work session, two additional districts were discussed: one in Cahaba Heights and one at the City Center. The merchants and/or property owners in these areas have expressed a strong desire to establish these additional districts to allow for special events in these three designated areas. Please review the following area maps and share your thoughts.
