For the past four years, VBCPS has been researching and discussing the possibilities of changing school start times in order for adolescents to have later start times that would better align with their sleeping patterns. At this time, VBCPS is looking for feedback on four potential options to change the schedule.
Before reviewing the options, you are strongly encouraged to view the embedded video to learn more about the medical research and community input regarding these schedule changes. Following this video, you will have four educational slides outlining each of the four options, after which you will be asked to rank those options in order of your preference.
For your reference, below are the current school start times.
High Schools: 7:20 a.m. to 2:10 p.m.
Elementary A Schools: 8:10 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
Elementary B Schools: 8:40 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.
Middle Schools: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
