  • What does the school division do well in providing for school safety and security?

Hiring Security Assistants, School Resource Officer's (SRO's), GENETEC program (cameras associated with doors, access control/door schedules, badges/user levels), utilize cameras, annual inspections on a 3 year rotation, Raptor, alert now.

  • What gaps exist regarding school safety and security that need to be addressed?

Security assistants (limit tasks to watching cameras and people entering the school), School Resource Officer's (need to be present all day at their assigned schools), Hire more SRO's for elementary schools, add more cameras to entrance/exit doors and place stationary cameras in the gyms/cafe's, bullet proof glass at entrance doors, Permit trained teachers to conceal and carry and or install the signs indicating such.

  • What new resources can be added or what existing resources can be used in different ways to strengthen school safety and security?

More security assistants (retired police) have a plan in place on where the security should be located throughout the day and have them check in even swiping their badges to prove that they are at their proper locations, be sure at least 2 security assistants and 2 office staff and or administrators know how to use the GENETEC program. Hire School Resource Officer's (SRO's) for all elementary schools (students know that the SRO's leave HS/MS's), Keep all doors locked (ask staff to monitor access doors during bell changes and give them an incentive), We have trained retired military staff (ask for those that would like to participate in emergencies/drills to help protect our schools, utilize the GENETEC system that is already in place to keep our schools safe and no more doors barred down, enclose the entire compounds and a gate guard at each entrance that permits entry and conducts random searches.
