I liked the locked doors inside the school and also the inability to get in except through one door. I like a police officer at the school.

  • What gaps exist regarding school safety and security that need to be addressed?

There should be NO unlocked doors. If someone needs to get in, they can be buzzed in once they show ID through a camera and state a reason. Nobody should be able to walk in the front door. The person at the desk is not equipped to handle a threat coming through those front doors. Also, kids open other doors to let other kids in. That should not be allowed. Stricter rules on anyone just opening a side or back door to let someone in. Maybe if alarms are on the doors, kids won't just open them to let others in.

  • What new resources can be added or what existing resources can be used in different ways to strengthen school safety and security?

I believe there should be another armed person in the school. It can be an office worker or janitor. Nobody has to know who is armed. Students don't need to know. It should not be a teacher, but someone who wanders the halls on a regular basis. A concealed carry that is anonymous to everyone in the school. That person would have to be completely vetted and trained or already have a military or police background. I do not think one cop is enough. If someone is already being paid to work at the school and carries, they do not have to bring someone else in.
