Please review the options for the 2018-19 and 2019-2020 school calendar years and let us know what you think.
The VBCPS Calendar Committee has been at work planning options for both the 2018-19 school year and the 2019-2020 school year. Last month, the School Board directed the committee to include professional learning for staff, limit the use of adjusted dismissal days, make staff days and professional learning days on Mondays and Fridays when possible and make winter break as long as possible. With this input in hand, the Calendar Committee created two calendar options for both the 2018-19 and 2019-2020 school years. These options are now available for community review and feedback.
2018-19
- Option 1 has two embedded days of professional learning for staff - Tuesday, Aug. 28 and Monday, Oct. 8. This option also includes Friday, April 12 as part of Spring Break. However, in case of inclement weather or any other necessary change to school operations, this day will be used as a makeup day.
- Option 2 has two embedded days of professional learning for staff - Monday, Oct. 8 and Monday, Nov. 5.
2019-2020
- Option 1 has two embedded days of professional learning for staff - Tuesday, Aug. 27 and Monday, Oct. 14.
- Option 2 has two embedded days of professional learning for staff - Monday, Oct. 14 and Monday, Nov. 5. Please note that this calendar does not observe the Presidents' Day holiday.
