Virginia Beach City Public Schools is evaluating a potential adjustment to school start times which could affect all students. Medical research points to the benefits of later start times for adolescents (age 11-17) due to significant changes in their sleep patterns. Information from the American Academy of Pediatrics is available for your review. Additional literature related to school start times and academic achievement is also available for your review.
Your participation in the brief survey will provide valuable input for the Board’s consideration. The results of the survey will be shared with the School Board during a workshop this spring and will be discussed in greater detail as part of the Board’s annual retreat in July 2017.
