Are there expenses in the City’s General Fund that you consider to be wasteful/unnecessary that the Mayor & Council should examine cutting? The primary locus of City overspending is policing.

City government always has a moral responsibility to stand apart from looking at every problem from a cop's-eye view. No police force has ever been designed to build public safety for all -- only for some. We must not be fooled.
Are there City service changes you think would save money and or/improve impacts for the community and visitors that the Mayor & Council should consider adjusting? no special ideas here, sorry
What options should the City explore for new or increased dollars to help solve its projected budget deficit? Adding sales tax of one quarter-cent, Increasing the local per-night-stay bed surtax, Creating an Advertising Transaction Privilege Tax, Secondary Property Tax increase for capital equipment and projects
What additional thoughts or comments do you have regarding the City’s FY26 Budget development? Question 1 here shamelessly gives a very high profile to police wish list items, among all the options mentioned.

Reinstating transit fares would be massive redistribution of resources from the poorest to the richest -- naked class warfare. Many untapped sources for transit funding are out there!

Are there expenses in the City’s General Fund that you consider to be wasteful/unnecessary that the Mayor & Council should examine cutting? The large amount of funds going towards policing and surveillance is astonishing. A better public safety strategy could help to reduce this cost.
Are there City service changes you think would save money and or/improve impacts for the community and visitors that the Mayor & Council should consider adjusting? Prioritize social services over policing. Serving at needs populations reduces crime. Policing is by definition reactive to existing crime. Less expensive to reduce crime, rather than police it after the fact.
What options should the City explore for new or increased dollars to help solve its projected budget deficit? Increasing the local per-night-stay bed surtax, Creating an Advertising Transaction Privilege Tax, Secondary Property Tax increase for capital equipment and projects, Adding sales tax of one quarter-cent
What additional thoughts or comments do you have regarding the City’s FY26 Budget development? Seems like it is rushed to the point of discouraging participation. Stop punishing the fire department by asking for their funding along side police. Keep public transit free. Too hot in this city to have poor kids and homeless people having to walk long distances.

Are there expenses in the City’s General Fund that you consider to be wasteful/unnecessary that the Mayor & Council should examine cutting? Many departments need oversight--perhaps citizen based, unbiased--particularly the law enforcement/see that Recreation Services have had some misappropriation problems and personally aware of staff that mismanage parks (supervisor making decisions to starve trees from any watering at all.
Are there City service changes you think would save money and or/improve impacts for the community and visitors that the Mayor & Council should consider adjusting? Not too familiar with what they are offering for visitor services at this time
What options should the City explore for new or increased dollars to help solve its projected budget deficit? Adding sales tax of one quarter-cent, Re-implement transit fares
What additional thoughts or comments do you have regarding the City’s FY26 Budget development? Increasing bed surcharge may result negatively/ property tax will impact negatively/ATP Tax will be devastating to business community

Are there expenses in the City’s General Fund that you consider to be wasteful/unnecessary that the Mayor & Council should examine cutting? I believe that some of the funding allocated to policing would better be served going to prevention operations, such as substance use education and intervention and mental health services.
Are there City service changes you think would save money and or/improve impacts for the community and visitors that the Mayor & Council should consider adjusting? I believe that funding should be directed away from policing and into preventative operations such as mental health, education, and substance abuse help.
What options should the City explore for new or increased dollars to help solve its projected budget deficit? Secondary Property Tax increase for capital equipment and projects
What additional thoughts or comments do you have regarding the City’s FY26 Budget development? I believe that transit should be kept free as this will help our city be climate resilient.

More shade & trees
Are there expenses in the City’s General Fund that you consider to be wasteful/unnecessary that the Mayor & Council should examine cutting? Any hostile rocks or additional structures/fences/encampment sweeps are something that I as a Tucson resident do not agree with and do not money being spent on it.
Are there City service changes you think would save money and or/improve impacts for the community and visitors that the Mayor & Council should consider adjusting? Free public transportation and free parking should not change. It should become more accessible and free.
We need more trees please! Less concrete! 100 degree day in early April?? Work on bringing Tucson down a few degrees please.
Homelessness needs community based attention and clean drug sites
What options should the City explore for new or increased dollars to help solve its projected budget deficit? None of the options listed should be used. City should cut existing services to pay for any new needs.
What additional thoughts or comments do you have regarding the City’s FY26 Budget development? I’m ashamed to see that the city and community I love and contribute to spent $300,000 on hostile rocks in 2024. I do not agree with additional police funding of any kind in any capacity. I want free and more public transportation, more shades/trees around town, and the homeless need our help!

Affordable housing, More firefighters, Fund early education, Substance use help, Homelessness support, More shade & trees, More arts & culture, City property care
Are there expenses in the City’s General Fund that you consider to be wasteful/unnecessary that the Mayor & Council should examine cutting? I support a smaller police budget fund.
Are there City service changes you think would save money and or/improve impacts for the community and visitors that the Mayor & Council should consider adjusting? I think continuing to invest in public transportation and bike ways save money and help everyone enjoy their communities more.
What options should the City explore for new or increased dollars to help solve its projected budget deficit? Adding sales tax of one quarter-cent, Secondary Property Tax increase for capital equipment and projects
What additional thoughts or comments do you have regarding the City’s FY26 Budget development? I hope to see it serving the populations most in need. Two specific ways I hope the budget can help is by increasing budget so the fire department can hire more firefighters. I also hope the city can allot funding to Pima Animal Care Center that is always operating at capacity.
