Seniors over the age of 75 should be exempt from theis regressive increase, which in essence, is a form of Tax. Yes, the increase will also be taxed which nobody talks about. Seniors are struggling in Ticson and Pima County which has the highest property taxes in the State. Each utility increase is another stab in the financial heart of Seniors who struggle just to meet bills. There is no heart at all in Tucsons water Department. I have attended meetings for the last 12 years when a rate increase is proposed annually. Its crazy! They even compund the rate increases year over year. Tucson used to be a low cost friendly city to retire in. Now, its becoming more like Phoenix every day. The cost of living here is through the roof and this plan just makes it go higher. Tucson water has one gpal, feeding the rate hungry Department to the point, outr Water bill, based on only 4CCF's is now higher thatn out Natural Gas bill. Oue monthly water rate for 4 CCF's is 2-1/2 times what it was 12 years ago. No other Department in Tucson has such an outlandish pricing structure. And the New Mayr is never going to be re-elected if tthis outrageos increase goes through. Just because something is legal to do, doesnt make it morally right. But, Im guessing nobody will read this and if they do, they wont care.

If this atrocity is passed, allow a off-set for Seniors over 75 who have not much longer to live, and allow them some dignity in there last years rather than sticking the screws to them just to gain the system and acquire money on the back's of we who made Tucson and Pima County what it is Today. Tucson Water has some of the highest rates of any comparable City compared to the Blue Water analysis. of like cities.
Shame on all those on the Council and the Mayor who has made this very bad move just to gain more money at the expense of everyone who chose to move here to retire.
