What additional comments or questions do you have regarding the 36th and La Cholla site?
I don't have a huge stake in this. I am a long-time Ward 1 resident, but do not live in that immediate area. However, it disturbs me to see the city continue to creep into the Tucson Mountain foothills, eroding more and more wild spaces, when we have so many empty lots within already developed areas of the city. I realize those lots are not easily converted into affordable housing, but this is a huge concern. Second, just because the houses are to be affordable doesn't mean they have to be crammed into the space and eliminate all the natural desert there--people seeking affordable housing also cherish natural landscapes. Finally, much of the space designated to be developed surrounds a school. It seems a shame to eliminate that from the schools immediate surroundings. Right when we need more green space in lower income areas, we seem to be eliminating them.
