What additional comments or questions do you have regarding the 36th and La Cholla site?
Beyond the money to be made by the builder/developer, it's difficult to understand how building so many houses on this site benefits anyone.
Houses built by this company are built very close together to maximize profit, not quality of life. Yes, this allows the city tax revenue to pay for infrastructure, but this does not benefit the community-the people living in this area.
I know that Tucson needs affordable housing. I have thought about the NIMBY aspects the desire to keep development at bay. However, I think this area in unique. The desert corridor in the surrounding area has already been compromised. Packing a few hundred more people onto this land will further damage an area that's safe for it's natural inhabitants. There are many places in Tucson that can better withstand the influx of so many people, cars and their attendant waste.
If the nature of our politics is to do the bidding of those with money, then the site will be developed, and current residents will be asked for "input" that may placate some. If our politics are "for the people", then this project will be reconfigured, vastly limited in it's scope, or rejected. The nature of this survey seems only to be an attempt to discover the best way to ease into doing what the developers and their community want.
