20 years of maintenance, self policing and respect of the area by bicycle riders provides evidence that the community organizing and bicycle culture is capable of continuing to manage this small part of the preserve. This is an important outlet that provides opportunities for responsibility, personal development, fitness, and community to those of Tempe with little direct access to places to ride bicycles, let alone challenge themselves with jumps, planning, and maintenance. This community transcends all cultural, racial, and other boundaries and brings the community together as we have demonstrated for 20 years.
