Tempe is renewing its efforts to improve Eighth Street, between Rural Road and McClintock Drive, for bicyclists and pedestrians. In June 2010, a preliminary design concept for Eighth Street and the adjacent Creamery Rail Spur Path between Rural Road and McClintock Drive was presented to the public for input. The project was expected to start construction in 2019, however, the project was delayed after the discovery of a significant prehistoric archaeological find. The project design has since been updated and we would love for you to provide feedback on the revamped Eighth Street Streetscape & Creamery Rail Corridor Transformation.
The project may include redesigned on-street parking, ADA, bicycle and pedestrian improvements and a proposed multi-use path, with landscape and lighting. The project is designed to accommodate all road users, emphasizing safety, comfort, and sustainability.
