WE'RE RENOVATING THE COMMUNITY CENTER GROUNDS
We now have a Preferred Concept Plan for the Community Center Grounds renovation. The City Council will review and vote on the concept at their meeting on Jan. 10, 2023. Following the meeting, we will update the project website to reflect the Council's decision and list the next steps.

On Feb. 10, the City's Redistricting Commission took your feedback into account when selecting Map 101V2C as their preferred map. They also are recommending Map 104V2C and Map 102V7C to the City Council.
Let Council know your preferred map by taking the survey.
The City Council will consider adopting a final district map on Feb. 22 at 6:00 p.m. Find hearing details at Sunnyvale.ca.gov/redistricting.

Sunnyvale is re-drawing its six Council district boundaries using new 2020 Census data. The City's Redistricting Commission received 25 map submissions from the public. They've narrowed the options to four "focus" maps.
Take this Focus Map Survey to review the focus maps, tell us what you like or don’t like about them, and pick which ones you’d support. The survey closes on Feb. 8 at 11:59 pm.
At the end of the survey you will be prompted with an optional registration page if you do not already have an Open City Hall account. The City is studying a proposal to extend Mary Avenue to the north. The proposed Mary Avenue Overcrossing project would go from Almanor Avenue to 11th Avenue with a new bridge over the US 101 and SR 237 freeways.
The project aims to relieve north-south traffic congestion in Sunnyvale, improve access between Moffett Park and other parts of the city, and support smart growth in Moffett Park. The first phase of the project is to study five proposed alternatives.
Please share feedback on these alternatives and how you would travel to Moffett Park via our online survey - open until October 15, 2020.

The City is updating the Air Quality and Noise sections of the Sunnyvale’s General Plan.
The updates will consider federal, state, local and regional regulations and changes to the city’s air quality and noise exposure. We are also evaluating the inclusion of Environmental Justice Goals and Policies throughout the General Plan. The Environmental Justice section is mandated by State law. It is intended to promote fair treatment for all people in underserved areas such as low-income neighborhoods that are adversely affected by environmental hazards. It also promotes equal participation of all people in the development and implementation of environmental regulations.

Sunnyvale could be changing to a district-based election system if a ballot measure in March 2020 succeeds. In preparation, the City Council has selected four maps that show options for future Council District boundaries. Your input will help the City Council select a final map in November. Take this short District Elections survey to see the preferred maps, tell us what you like or don’t like about them, and pick which ones you’d support.

Join us for Traffic Safety Improvement Walking Tours and find out about potential traffic safety improvements in selected areas. The tours are part of developing the City’s Vision Zero Plan, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities and injuries for all modes of transportation within Sunnyvale.
The Vision Zero team drew on community feedback and expert analysis to create conceptual plans for pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle safety improvements at several locations around Sunnyvale. The team will be on hand at the tour to discuss the plans. Drop in at any time during the tour to review the plans and share your feedback. Be prepared to walk three or four blocks.

The Civic Center Master Plan survey on Open City Hall will close at the end of the day on October 31, 2017.
The next step of the project is to select a “Preferred Alternative.” This alternative will be the focus of more detailed environmental studies before City Council considers the adoption of a Master Plan.

The City Council has initiated a Master Plan to create a long-term vision for the Civic Center Campus. Community opinion has been gathered since the Civic Center project started in 2015, and is very important as we continue to evaluate Master Plan alternatives. Community outreach efforts have led to the adoption of a Vision Statement, Success Criteria, and Needs assessment for the Civic Center Campus.
The next step of the project is to select a “Preferred Alternative.” This alternative will be the focus of more detailed environmental studies before City Council considers the adoption of a Master Plan.

The City of Sunnyvale is conducting a Caltrain Grade Separation Feasibility Study to examine options for separating the road and railroad at Sunnyvale Avenue. This project is being considered to improve the safety at railway crossings, enhance pedestrian and bicycle access, reduce vehicle delays, and reduce noise impacts.
There are eight preliminary alternatives under consideration for the Sunnyvale Avenue site. More information on potential property, cost and traffic impacts for each concept can can be found on the project webpage. Click here to access the project webpage.

The City of Sunnyvale is currently reviewing its regulations for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), also known as “granny flats” or “mother-in-law” units.
The purpose of this study is to consider possible changes to Sunnyvale’s ADU regulations that might allow more homeowners to add an ADU to their property. Part of the study includes determining where in the City ADUs should be allowed and what the minimum development standards should be.

In order to ensure that the final ECR Plan sets the stage for the type of changes that have the broadest community support, we have extended the time for your input.
Sunnyvale wants to know what you think about the three land use alternatives proposed for the El Camino Real Corridor. Which one do you prefer?
The three options range from a focus on commercial development, just like in the existing 2007 Precise Plan, to a focus on allowing more residential development and to one that is a mixture of the two.

The City of Sunnyvale recently updated its smoking law to protect residents from exposure to secondhand smoke.
Smoking is now prohibited in multi-family housing, within 25 feet of doors and windows of buildings, in outdoor dining areas, and in several other outdoor areas.

Thank you for your interest and involvement with development of the Horizon 2035 Land Use and Transportation Element (LUTE) of the General Plan! The LUTE covers a wide range of topics that guide land use and transportation inSunnyvale over the next 20 to 30 years.
I’m writing now to let you know that both the Draft LUTE and its Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) are available for public review and comment. Both documents are available on the hosted project website. Please excuse any duplication in sharing this information; in an effort to reach out to everyone who is interested, we are sharing this information on several distribution lists.
Pursuant to the California Public Resources Code and the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines (CEQA Guidelines), the City of Sunnyvale is the Lead Agency for the proposed project. Thank you for being involved as the City finalizes the Horizon 2035 Land Use and Transportation Element (LUTE) of the General Plan. The LUTE covers a wide range of topics that guide land use and transportation in Sunnyvale over the next 20 to 30 years.
Through Open City Hall, we’ve asked community members to share input on some of the major components of the proposed LUTE. This period of online public input is coming to a close shortly. BUT if you haven’t participated yet, there’s still time. These topics will close on April 30, 2016.
All four LUTE topics are available here. Please participate in as many as you’d like. The input received so far is summarized here. You can also view results in a more interactive format here.
In the next few months, the City Council and the Planning Commission will review the LUTE and consider proposed changes in light of public comments. Hearing dates will be sent to you in a future email and posted on the project website. Additional comments on the LUTE will be accepted at the hearing, or by email at [email protected].

Thank you for your applications to serve on the Sunnyvale El Camino Real Corridor Plan Advisory Committee (ECRPAC)! The City has received over 60 applications. The Council Subcommittee will review the applications in the next two weeks and appoint the members of the ECRPAC. Staff will contact applicants of the outcome by the first week in August, 2015.
