Tell us your thoughts on the proposed Game Plan 2028 Moves.
The City’s Climate Action Playbook is Sunnyvale’s plan to achieve carbon neutrality. The Playbook lays out six Strategies and 18 Plays that will guide the City toward its greenhouse gas reduction goals. The Game Plans are work plans that lay out specific actions, or “Next Moves,” to help propel the City towards its climate action targets. To align with the new state target, the City is updating our carbon neutrality goal from 80% below 1990 levels by 2050, to 85% below 1990 levels by 2045. We are also proposing a new Play, Play 3.4: Decarbonizing off-road equipment and vehicles.
Despite the curveball of COVID-19, the City was able to achieve some major milestones in the last four years. Some of the biggest accomplishments include:
- Adoption of Reach Codes requiring all-electric new construction
- Adoption of the updated Active Transportation Plan
- Installation of 12 fast charging stations in Sunnyvale
- Launch of the shared scooter program, Cool Cooktops program and Drive Electric program
Now, we are looking for your input on our next work plan to keep Sunnyvale on track. Game Plan 2028 lays out the Next Moves for Sunnyvale to take between 2024 and 2028. This Game Plan will help ensure Sunnyvale can reach our 2030 target of 56% below 1990 levels by 2030. It's an ambitious goal and we need your help to ensure Game Plan 2028 is a slam dunk!
