Driving is likely the most complex task most adults do in their daily life. It is a complex task that takes years to master to navigate the roads at high speed, avoid other cars and pedestrians, act in a legal manner, read road signs, etc. Many are overconfident and this results in many fatal accidents each year. Adding a huge distraction like texting just adds to the complexity and increases risk of death to the driver and the innocent.
A man I met was hit by a young texting while driving person who went thru a red light going 60mph in Sugar Land. His young daughter was in the car. He now has a serious heart problem to live with the rest of his life. This is immoral to allow texting while driving which is hurting and killing many.
I take my kids to school and crossing guards have told me that they see drivers texting all the time and sometimes they don't stop. There have been some very close calls at the 1 crossing stop right near my house. Talk to your local crossing guard about this.
