I too would prefer that neither crossing be closed. I use both frequently (sometimes daily). However, if I had to make a choice, I would prefer Brooks St. to be closed. When crossing Brooks onto Kempner, the driver must go right or left. If you go right, then you have to turn left onto Main St. at the next intersection. I find this intersection can be congested and even hazardous for turning left when traffic is heavy.

Close the Brooks street crossing. Makes the most sense.

I don't think either should be closed. I use Wood Street to get my daughter to and from school and Brooks to access the Farmers Market plus future development...not to mention when I'm coming from highway 6, I use Brooks to cross. Both are important access roads for many. I don't even want to think about the congestion that will take place once one of these is closed.

Brooks needs to stay open. I see many more cars cross there than at Woods.

This would be a huge inconvince! This would also cause more traffic on 90 and other railroad crossings! Brook St is used more often. If you must close one, I vote for woods. But I would prefer neither to close.

If the railroad is requiring A (meaning one) closure, isn't the NALCO crossing the ONE to satisfy that requirement? Living on the Hill for 40 years, I have used both Wood St. and Brooks St. weekly, sometimes daily. As more trains commute, and stop, as they do lately, it is most helpful to have alternative accesses out of the neighborhood. The need for access of emergency vehicles is a major concern if crossings are limited.

It would be best to leave both crossings open. Since one has to be closed, it should probably be Brooks. This would serve to encourage more traffic on University and also leave Wood St open for all of the residents that live nearby. Brooks would be a dead end into the new hotel anyway and Kempner could be used for street parking.

Believe that Brooks Street should NOT be closed since it is a continuing street from Highway 6 and would access the proposed Imperial development directly. Naturally considerable research is necessary including traffic count of both streets which would have bearing on final decision.

Thank you for allowing the citizens to weigh in on this decision. I understand the need to close one due to Union Pacific requirements. Wood street from all my experience is under utilized by most of the north side of 90 traffic except when main is backed up due to train or heavy traffic due to school or church. I would vote for brooks to be closed and turn all of that section of Kempner into a walking only section with developing the old sugar mill site. A town center north if you might . We have lots of history and potential to grow this part of the City and look forward to wisdom in long range planning. Thanks Kelly

Wood St. closing will effect thousands of residence's life and property values which will result lower City tax revenue. Also brook St. Ends on Kempner while Wood St. goes in many different direction. It would be unethical for City to hurt the residence surrounding wood St. I would request City counsel to seriously consider not to close Wood St.
