Are The Hill draft regulations clear and do they implement the guidance from the survey?
Welcome!
The Hill draft regulations, which implement the community’s preferred design standards, are now available for The Hill Community’s review. This is the final step in this project. We received an extensive amount of feedback in the December survey, and at this time we want to know if you think the draft regulations clearly implement the community’s direction. This webpage allows you to review and provide your comments on the draft regulations for The Hill. To get started, click the "Add Your Annotation" button below.
On the next page you will see three different tabs. The first tab, "Guide to Providing Comments" provides instructions for how to leave comments on the draft regulations, which are in the two remaining tabs. The documents in the Online Town Hall identify the newly added regulations so the user can distinguish between existing and new. You can also download a pdf of the redlined or clean copy of the regulations below then add in your comments into the online town hall. The Online Town Hall is open until May 9, 2021.
All comments will be reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission at an upcoming public hearing on May 27th at 6:30 pm. Visit www.sugarlandtx.gov/TheHill to learn more about the public hearing details.
Thank you in advance for providing your comments on draft Hill regulations.
Background
In 2018, based on community feedback, the City initiated a project to engage The Hill residents and property owners in evaluating whether there is a desire to maintain the character of The Hill neighborhood. After a robust public engagement process in Phase I, The Hill Neighborhood Steering Committee drafted a vision and set of initial recommendations for implementation in Phase II, which is nearing completion with the draft regulations.
You can read about the previous public engagement efforts that brought us to this point here: https://www.sugarlandtx.gov/1728/Project-History
After the Hill Design Standards Options Survey closed in December 2020, The Hill Neighborhood Steering Committee analyzed the survey results, and finalized their recommendation to implement design standards preferred by The Hill Community. The survey results and the design standards list are posted on The Hill project website. With the Committee’s direction, staff proceeded to draft the regulations to implement the community’s preferred design standards. This is the final step in this project.
We look forward to your comments!
