I understand downtown businesses not wanting major changes that would have traffic bypass their business, but it's happening now. If I'm going to go to south Prior Lake (Tractor Supply) or out of town on Hwy 13, I will completely bypass this intersection. I've starting driving further, especially during peak hours, to avoid this intersection. I live in Credit River (near 185th and Natchez). It's now easier to go into Lakeville to purchase products at the hardware or grocery store than it is to go through Prior Lake. My other option is to skip Prior Lake and go to the Savage area of Hwy 13 and Co Rd 42.
With population growth in the areas south of Prior Lake and the increase in traffic on Hwy 13 during the commute hours, it is going to become more important to have a bypass of this area.
This summer, with CR27 closed south of CR21, it has increased traffic on Hwy 13 and created further back-ups on CR21. Waiting for the light to change FIVE times when going westbound on 21 to cross Hwy 13 is not an answer.
