July 13, 2026: Public Hearing: Conditional Use Permit for Nagel Private Airport

Wayne Nagel, the applicant, is requesting a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) to operate a private airport.  The turf runway would be located on a 40-acre parcel located in Section 23 of Blakeley Township. The taxiway and hangar would be located on the adjacent 40-acre parcel. The runway would span the length of the entire half section at approximately 2,644 feet long (less 33 feet of roadway easement) and would be 120 feet wide. The hangar was built many years ago and is located approximately 400 feet south of the proposed runway. There were runways located on this property and adjacent properties for a number of decades, but the runways were removed more than eight years ago.

The airport would be for the private use of the applicant and his two sons. The applicant does not currently own an airplane but plans to use the runway for up to three small planes. The previous runway on the property hosted two small planes for many years. The Federal Aviation Administration classifies a small aircraft as 12,500 lbs. or less.
