Minnesota’s cannabis law (Minnesota Statutes Chapter 342), passed in 2023, established a regulatory framework for the state’s new cannabis industry. Minnesota is the 23rd state in the nation to legalize adult-use cannabis. Chapter 342 legalized recreational use of cannabis and created different cannabis business types, with accompanying licensing for different components of the cannabis industry such as growing, processing, packaging, transporting, delivering, testing, event organizing, and retail operations. The roll-out of this new industry is set to begin in early 2025.
Last month, after conducting a public hearing, the Planning Commission tabled any recommendation on the draft Cannabis Zoning Ordinance amendments to allow time to gather and review information related to two (2) modifications based on comments and testimony provided at the hearing.
