The Central Park Master Plan identifies several capital improvement projects, including the Central Park Entrance, Access, and Parking Improvement Project (Project). This Project consists of design and installation of a new accessible entry to Central Park at the signized intersection of Kiely Boulevard and Kaiser Drive, adjacent to the Magical Bridge All-Inclusive Playground (currently in design). The Project includes improved landscaping, a new traffic signal, expanded parking with EV charging stations, accessible drop-off area, and pathways to connect the Community Recreation Center, Playground, public transit stop and other Park amenities while preserving the Veterans’ Memorial, adjacent event space, and large grass meadow. The initial draft schematic design (see above image) is intended for public comment and was presented at the April 19, 2022 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting, listen or watch the meeting online.
