Speak Up San Mateo! is an online forum for civic engagement providing the San Mateo community with an opportunity to participate in discussions about projects and initiatives considered by the city. The city is using the site to gather feedback from community members and encourages your participation. Share your ideas with city officials and learn what others are saying about important projects taking place throughout the community. City officials will review your feedback and incorporate it into the decision-making process.
When you post your first statement, you will be asked for your name and home address. This information is used to identify statements from residents in and near San Mateo so that users know which statements are from residents. Remember that the city is subject to California’s Public Records Act and information provided by a result of participation in “Speak Up San Mateo!” including the information provided when you register is a public record.
Speak Up San Mateo! is run by OpenGov, a non-partisan company whose mission is to broaden civic engagement and build public trust in government. While OpenGov has a privacy agreement, the city is subject to the State Public Records Act and information provided by a result of participation in “Speak Up San Mateo!” is a public record.
As with any public engagement process, participation in Speak Up San Mateo! is voluntary. City officials will consider input from Speak Up San Mateo! along with all other channels of participation. Thank you for sharing your ideas, and helping to build a better San Mateo.
