The City Council is recruiting for a new leader to replace San Mateo's outgoing City Manager, who is retiring on June 30, 2023.
The City Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our municipal government while implementing policy direction set by the Council. This influential position is appointed by the Council and we are seeking community feedback to help guide our recruitment and selection strategies for the next City Manager.

Oversees 10 City departments including Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Finance, Community Development, Police and more.
Manages an organization of about 700 employees who collectively serve a community of nearly 105,000 residents.
Oversees City finances, including for fiscal year 2022-23 a roughly $217 million total operating budget and a capital improvement program of about $68 million.
