We are interested in your feedback on Proposed Green Building Reach Codes for home renovations. The City of San Mateo is committed to being a climate leader and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our community. Every 3 years we adopt green building reach codes to go beyond state standards and require buildings to be constructed more sustainably. The City's current green building reach codes expire on December 31, 2022 and we are planning to continue requiring that new construction be all-electric and provide enhanced electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
This survey focuses on proposed new reach codes for certain types of home remodels or renovations, that would be adopted this fall and be effective January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2025. The Sustainability and Infrastructure Commission provided feedback earlier this year, and your input will be shared with the City Council when the reach code updates are considered at the September 19, 2022 City Council meeting.
