What do you love about the City of SLO parks, activities, and recreational facilities?
walkability to downtown; progress in making biking safer; availability of parks; organized sports and activities
What do you wish to have in 20 years for the City of SLO parks, activities and recreational facilities?
Dream list: 1. another pool, really two pools in a large park, one for children and one for serious swimmers surrounded by grass and picnic area and playground with lifeguards on hand; shallow pools to clean the feet before entering pools along with outdoor showers next to the shallow pools. I lived in Germany, Despite the more severe climate most towns and cities offer this kind of recreational opportunity, along with an indoor pool. Sinsheimer Pool is insufficient. 2. More pocket parks in the downtown area and more public restroom facilities 3. When widening major streets think of the pedestrian and the pleasure index for walking along that street. Ideally there should be a separated sidewalk for pedestrians as well as for bicyclists. Walking along Los Osos Valley Road is tedious. It would be great to have such pathways totally disconnected from roads connecting various parts of the city where possible (green ways). For example, consider Tank Farm Road improvements. Perhaps a green way or separated pedestrian and bicycle lanes could be considered there, . 4. Add pieces of missing sidewalks in some areas. On my street, there is a sidewalk in front of one house, and not the next. The pattern is repeated in my neighborhood. (Iris and George Street)
