We have quite a few parks, most of which are very nice, open to the public and do not charge fees. The parks are generally well maintained and usable. We have at least one park area dedicated to frisbee golf, which appears to be well utilized. We also have a 9 hole par 3 city golf course, which does charge fees and now has powered golf cars for rent.

I would like to see more support for golf, at the existing course or elsewhere. I would especially like to see support for golf for teenagers and pre-teens. This could be in the form of eliminating or reducing green fees at the city course for players of those ages, providing free or low cost instruction, and providing free or reduced fee use of practice facilities. It is my experience that golf is an activity that promotes health and civility, teaches sportsmanship and can be carried out for as long as a person is able to walk. Our little 9 hole course is especially suitable for early development. Our SLO County courses could also be used by young people, either independently or by arrangement with individual cities. I think golf has a bad name in some quarters and is thought of as sport for the wealthy. That is not the case now and could be even less so with a little community support.
