The City is excited to share this Public Review Draft of the City of San Luis Obispo’s Climate Adaptation & Safety Element for community feedback.
The City of San Luis Obispo is committed to protecting the community from natural and human-made hazards and building resilience to existing and projected climate change risks. Over the last year, the City of San Luis Obispo has been in the process of updating the City’s General Plan Climate Adaptation and Safety Element, which addresses issues related to environmental justice and creates a roadmap for community resilience in the decades ahead.
The Climate Adaptation and Safety Element assesses the city’s vulnerability to hazards in the San Luis Obispo area and establishes goals, policies, and implementation measures to protect people, property, and the natural environment. It is designed to realize an equitable, resilient community that thrives despite the changing climate and other known hazards.
The Planning Commission will consider the Climate Adaptation and Safety Element at a public hearing on December 14, 2022, for a recommendation to the City Council at a hearing tentatively scheduled on January 17, 2023.
