How does arts and culture contribute to Sandpoint’s unique community character?
Sandpoint has a sort of interwoven fabric of being an ‘art town’, yet being rich in history and historical buildings, which makes for an interesting combination. This juxtaposition attracts tourists, diverse local talent, and brings about innovation and a growing economy. The interactions and strong social bonds made through art are also very evident to me in Sandpoint.
How would you like Sandpoint’s arts and cultural scene to grow or change in the next five years?
I would like to see a central organization of leadership to effectively help all of the various arts organizations get their programming out to our citizens.

How does historic preservation contribute to Sandpoint’s unique community character and sense of place?
We have a hundred plus years of Sandpoint proper history, and many historical properties that have been lovingly preserved. That means a lot of pride of place for those families that have lived here for generations, and newcomers alike.
Do you work in a creative industry?
Other - I am a 30 year employee (graphic designer) of a screenprinting shop here in Sandpoint, with national and international clients. I have also been a volunteer or board member of arts organizations in town. Currently the chair of Sandpoint Arts Commission.

Other - I’ve called Sandpoint my hometown for 45 years. Lived within 4 blocks of downtown for my entire adult life. My son is 4th generation Sandpoint. I love to see Sandpoint vibrant and bustling with events and art, while retaining the small town vibe.

I appreciate the effort of the City of Sandpoint to undertake this master planning. I feel it’s important for this arts town to chart a course for success for it’s many working artists and the citizens that enjoy the fruits of that labor.
