I DO NOT SUPPORT current ADU regulations
I DO NOT SUPPORT incentives to encourage ADU construction or conversions of existing accessory buildings (i.e. garages) into ADUs.
If you support changes to ADU regulations, please indicate what changes you would like to see below.
I don't want this to turn into California in any way. I moved here for the serenity, for wide open spaces. To encourage people to turn their garage into a dwelling is just plain stupid, and it's mostly because they couldn't afford the place in the first place or you raised their taxes too much so they had to create more living space to sell or rent. Big yards, beautiful mature trees, room for kids to play in your yard is what I think Sandpoint should be. If you want hi density, move back to California or most big cities.
Would you support a change to the Sandpoint City Code that would allow for smaller lot sizes than currently allowed to provide more housing options (i.e. townhouses or other fee simple attached single family units or smaller detached homes).
No, I do not support lot sizes smaller than current code allows 50 ft. wide/5,000 square feet

What would improve your neighborhood?
With the pictures above, you are acting like we are running out of space! I know the mayor says we are but there is lots of land available close to Sandpoint, and don't use the mindset that everyone wants to live here. This place isn't for everyone. To improve my neighborhood I would want every lot to have a sidewalk paid for by the owner and maintained(including snow removal) by the owner. Why the city thinks they need to maintain these is not the norm in the U.S..
What do you like best about your neighborhood?
Lots of room, ruralness. Space to breathe. BTW, been here for a long time, 37 years. Owned businesses, worked, owned apartment building, done most everything here, I love this place. I think high density in town housing is wrong, but I am not trying to rape the land by dividing it up. I am not a developer and cherish every inch of dirt I own. I hope others can experience what I have right here in Sandpoint. Packing them in isn't the answer.
