Maintaining the ecological balance of the watershed.
The Little Sand Creek Watershed is owned by the City of Sandpoint's water utility. It is one of of the two sources (the other being the lake) of drinking water supplied through the Sandpoint water system. The Sandpoint water utility provides water in the City of Sandpoint as well as the adjacent cities of Ponderay and Kootenai and it also provides wholesale water to the Syringa, Northside and Edelweiss Water Districts.
What are your biggest concerns when it comes to recreation in the watershed?

Is there anything else you would like to share with us regarding recreation in the Little Sand Creek Watershed?
I am a board member of the Inland Empire Task Force.
Please disclose the NEPA that the BLM has to do for the ridgline trail on the public's property.
Please map and stay 300' from riparian areas (the streams) and cross perpendicularity.
Please map and not log and avoid areas with IDFG's species of concern and raptor nesting areas.
Please discuss effects to the grizzly bear as the watershed is within the "bears may be present area"
Please revegetate with native plants, the KNPS has a list of species that can be used.
Please do not plant attractants such as clover or non native grasses along the trail to help avoid conflict with ungulates and bears.
Please be bear aware and close the trail if there is a bear of any species frequenting the trails until they are gone.
Please examine the ridgeline on BLM lands for potential whitebark pine plantings.
Please consult with the USFWS on whitebark pine and grizzly bears impacts.
Please stop any additional logging in the drainage as it can serve as a carbon reserve. Old growth forests provide the best water quality and wildlife habitat.
Please be aware that the threat of fire is often used as a scare tactic to get logs to the mill.
Please make any structures there "fire safe".
Please disclose the CE that is required for the BLM to permit/construct a trail on our public lands.
