An effective Snow Removal Policy is necessary for our city to function throughout the winter. Our snow/ice control program is designed to:
- reduce hazards of winter conditions for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists;
- enable timely and safe access for emergency services; and,
- minimize economic loss to our community.
The Sandpoint City Council adopted the current Snow Removal Policy in 2018. The reference to "snow removal" includes a variety of winter maintenance services such as applying surface treatments for traction, plowing of snow and slush, ice removal and hauling of snow. Snow removal is a collaboration between the city and its citizens. The Snow Removal Policy establishes priorities and expectations between November 1 and March.
