Are changes needed to Sandpoint's current Snow Removal Policy? It was last updated in 2018. Your input will help shape the future of our services in this upcoming snow season and future seasons.
An effective Snow Removal Policy is necessary for our city to function throughout the winter. Our snow/ice control program is designed to:
- reduce hazards of winter conditions for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists;
- enable timely and safe access for emergency services; and,
- minimize economic loss to our community.
The Sandpoint City Council adopted the current Snow Removal Policy in 2018. The reference to "snow removal" includes a variety of winter maintenance services such as applying surface treatments for traction, plowing of snow and slush, ice removal and hauling of snow. Snow removal is a collaboration between the city and its citizens. The Snow Removal Policy establishes priorities and expectations between November 1 and March.
