The temporary parklet allows the placement of removable items like tables, chairs, and barriers to be located in designated parking stalls, sidewalks, or private parking lots during the pandemic to accommodate business activity outdoors.

The temporary outdoor business activity program is set to expire December 31, 2021, and the City is establishing a program to transition into a longer term solution to accommodate an annual parklet program, renewable on a yearly basis (simply, “Parklet Program”).

The City is proposing that businesses interested in the Parklet Program will be allotted up to two on-street parking stalls to accommodate their proposed parklet in order to balance an appropriate amount of parking supply within the Downtown.  The allotment of two parking stalls may be fewer than what your business is currently allowed under the temporary program.

The City is working to have pre-selected parklet designs created for businesses to use.  The templates will provide enough detail regarding finishes, material, construction, and design options for businesses to “plug-and-play”, but can also be adapted to fit site-specific conditions for each unique business.  In order to establish a cohesive aesthetic in Downtown, businesses would be required to use these designs as part of the Parklet Program.
