What do you think about the City regulating on-street parking so cars are not blocking mailboxes?
ACTION BY PROVO CITY COUNCIL ON AUGUST 7, 2024 (APPROVED 7:0): Vehicles have been blocking mailboxes on streets near Timpview High School, preventing USPS from delivering mail. To address this issue, Provo City has enacted temporary parking regulations. Parking is prohibited within 10 feet on either side of a mailbox between the hours of 6 AM and 6 PM in the areas listed below. This ordinance will be in effect until January 2030.
- The area bounded by 3950 North on the north, Timpview Drive on the east, 3050 North on the south, and 450 East on the west
- 3900 North east of Timpview Drive
- 3800 North and 3750 North east of Timpview Drive and all roads intersecting them
- Quail Valley Drive between Timpview Drive and Little Rock Drive, and all roads intersecting with it in that span
- 3230 North east of Timpview Drive
- 3100 North east of Timpview Drive

The Provo City Council is considering implementing on-street parking regulations in front of mailboxes. When cars are parked in front of mailboxes, the US Postal Service will not deliver mail which has become an issue in some neighborhoods around the city, especially for those residents living by Timpview High School.
Please let us know if this is a problem in your area and which streets/neighborhoods are affected and also let us know your opinion on the following regulation considerations --
Current regulation considerations:
- Timing
- Option 1: no parking between 7am-5pm, Monday-Friday
- Option 2: no parking 24/7
- Location
- Option 1: citywide
- Option 2: Specific geographic area either by neighborhood or a radius from a central point (i.e. Timpview High School)
- Length of Regulation
- Option 1: Sunset clause for regulation to end once construction is completed at Timpvew High School
- Option 2: in perpetuity
