Would a new UVX stop on 900 East make your commute harder or easier?
Easier
Why would a new UVX stop on 900 East make your commute harder or easier?
I work mainly outside Utah. With a UVX stop I would have the option to take public transportation all the way to the airport.
When working in Utah pre-pandemic I took the train from Provo Station to SLC for work.
Would you oppose or favor a new UVX station on 900 East near BYU and north of Wasatch Elementary?
Favor
Why do you oppose or favor a new station?
The location is one of the best that could be chosen in terms of ridership: proximity to BYU for students and faculty, proximity to BYU for social events, proximity to students living at Heritage Halls, proximity to students and adults that live in/near Wasatch and commute.
My daughter commutes to SLC and takes UVX several times each week. Having a stop at this location means she does not need someone to drive her to a bus stop farther away. When I commute in Utah again, the connection is perfect for me to get to Provo Station and take the train to work in SLC. Eventually housing density will increase in the area and we need public transport to serve the residents.
Regarding a proposed new UVX station on 900 East near BYU and Wasatch Elementary, what message of concern or support would you want to share with elected officials?
We cannot live in the past. The Orem-Provo rapid transit was conceived to make it easier to commute without major investments. Pre-pandemic it was very successful, and TRAX has been extremely successful. We need in-place now the system that will serve us already in the near-future. It's a quality-of-life issue.
What factors relative to a UVX station on 900 East influence your decision of support of opposition?
Excellent experience using TRAX. Obvious need at this location on 9th East that has been tabled. Many residents, students and others would benefit by a bus stop at the confluence of BYU, BYU social events, Heritage Halls, and the Wasatch neighborhood.
