What matters most to the Lents neighborhood in its next phase of development?
In May 2014, Prosper Portland and the city, with community support and input, launched the Lents Five-Year Action Plan, calling for focused investments that would have the greatest benefit for existing residents and businesses. Prosper Portland’s support has encompassed the Portland Mercado, Zoiglhaus Brewing, Leach Botanical Garden, the ongoing success of the Lents International Farmers Market, Zenger Farms and the arrival of Portland Pickles baseball. Phase 1 of Lents Town Center redevelopment consisted of $109 million in total investment, including $37 million in loans from Prosper Portland and $17 million in loans from the Portland Housing Bureau. Phase 1 produced 4 projects: Oliver Station, Lents Commons, Asian Health & Service Center and Woody Guthrie Place, which collectively added 263 new housing units, including 157 affordable units and 47 workforce units, as well as commercial space for 10 businesses.
Lents Town Center Phase 2 development involves a 4.4-acre site owned by Prosper Portland on SE 92nd between SE Harold and SE Ramona. Palindrome Communities was selected as the developer in 2014 in response to a Request for Interest. Prosper Portland elected to delay development of the property until effective completion of Phase 1.
This survey is part of the ongoing community engagement process for Phase 2; the feedback gained will help shape the public investment and public benefits that develop from the project. Prosper Portland will present the results of this survey at the Lents Town Center Phase 2 Open House on February 11, 2019.
