  • What news banner headline would you like to see about the Broadway Corridor area in ten years?

The Broadway Corridor is a vibrant and mixed use neighborhood with clean air because they promote walking, biking, and transit while working actively to deter cars from entering the area.

  • Describe your concerns about the Broadway Corridor project.

I am concerned that it is going to be a missed opportunity because it:
    1) doesn't build enough housing. We need lots of housing - both affordable and market rate - in the Portland area. Downtown is the best place to build it.
    2) It doesn't go big enough. We should max out the FAR for this project and be forward looking. Portland is going to get bigger so let's show how great big can be.
    3) It is too car reliant. If there are parking garages this will be a project for suburbanites and out-of-towners, not for a vibrant downtown. If there aren't protected bike lanes, open streets for walking and dedicated transit lanes, this will be not progressive enough.

  • Do you think the Broadway Corridor project is a good opportunity for you and your community?
    • Yes
  • Why?
Making downtown more vibrant will also help make the inner NE neighborhoods more vibrant.
  • Will you continue to participate in the planning of the Broadway Corridor project?
    • Yes
  • Why?
I'm super excited about it and want to make sure they keep aspiring for great things!

  • Explain why you made these selections.

People like to come to Portland to see what makes it unique. I take them to local shops and restaurants and I like to show them our best bike infrastructure.

  • What activities would you like to do in the Broadway Corridor project area that you can't do now in the city? (Types of events, recreational activities, programs, etc.)

Walk on streets permanently closed off to cars. Have a unique experience where you can walk into street shops and food trucks without the constant noise and threat from cars.

  • What will make the public spaces in the Broadway Corridor project area feel comfortable, safe and welcoming to you and your family?

Focusing on making the area for people and not cars. Prioritize safety for people and people getting there on transit and by bike/foot and it'll showcase how great urbanism can be.
