    Connecting Portland's Communities.

  • Describe your concerns about the Broadway Corridor project.

Currently there is a park (North Park Blocks) that is near the Broadway Corridor project. That park is littered with crime and homeless camps, trash, and is unsafe, especially at night. Just down the street at the corner of Broadway and Glisan and all the way up to Hoyt street (Bud Clark Commons) is infested with garbage, people loiterring on the sidewalks and drug deals regular occurance. Why don't we address these issues first, then build/expand our community. The addition of the Broadway Corridor will be nice, but only if the (tax paying) residents of the area can enjoy the benefits. Otherwise, it's just another park/playground for crime.

    • Other - I live/work across from the USPS site for 10+ years. I've seen a lot of change in that area, but mainly an increase in crime/homeless camps. What's the point of a park if the residents of the area feel unsafe and/or cannot safely use?

Participate in a true "public" art piece i.e. Invite the members of our community to participate in an art project that is all inclusive, yet

    Project Example:

Wood boardwalk section for pedestrian traffic. Boardwalk consists of wood planks that were previously painted by the public who were invited to participate during a public art weekend. The painted wood planks are then shuffled and used to make the boardwalk surface. End result is a colorful boardwalk that represents the diversity and unification of our neighborhoods through public participation in art.

As an Industrial Designer / Artist by profession, I would be happy to share my time and knowledge to make something like the above mentioned happen. If you would like to chat about the possibilities, feel free to contact me.
