  • GOAL 1: KEEP PORTLAND COMPETITIVE
    • Create opportunities for education and economic growth; add a net gain of jobs in the region. - 3
  • What can we do to make this happen? Who should be involved?

Not sure what is meant by "education".Does this mean schools..public? private? college level? What does "economic growth" mean? Retail? Industrial? Tech? Other? You need to clarify these goals in order to obtain useful feedback.

  • GOAL 2: KEEP PORTLAND ACCESSIBLE
    • Leverage regional assets and public benefits to enhance quality of life for Portlanders. - 3
  • What can we do to make this happen? Who should be involved?

This statement contains a lot of jargon and is not clear. Makes it impossible to envision specifically what you mean in order to formulate a useful response.

  • GOAL 3: KEEP PORTLAND CONNECTED
    • Strengthen multimodal transportation connections; enhance the public realm to improve accessibility and create vibrant public spaces and recreational opportunities. - 5 - Very important
  • What can we do to make this happen? Who should be involved?

Create open space (parks, plazas) to provide relief from the wall to wall high rises moving into this area. Avoid the area becoming a high rise jungle as in the Vancouver, BC waterfront.

  • GOAL 4: KEEP PORTLAND HEALTHY
    • Develop the site so that it reflects high-quality construction, resource sharing, environmentally-friendly practices and social responsibility. - 5 - Very important
  • What can we do to make this happen? Who should be involved?

Do you mean the USPS site, or the entire Broadway Corridor? Avoid wood frame structures in favor of concrete and steel for durability and seismic protection.

  • GOAL 5: KEEP PORTLAND ACCOUNTABLE
    • Create an implementable strategy that attracts private investment and delivers appropriate public benefit. - 3
  • What can we do to make this happen? Who should be involved?

This is another fuzzy goal that is not at all clear. Cannot respond to this because "delivers appropriate public benefit" is subject to such wide interpretation. Please be more specific.

  • Is there anything that we have missed? Please share your thoughts below:

In general, these goals are not very clear in terms of their specifics. They are subject to a wide variety of interpretation. I appreciate the opportunity to give input, but if you are serious in soliciting community feedback, you need to lay out more information about the plan you are really envisioning.

The Framework Plan will provide a strategic vision for the broader study area and development concepts for the USPS site. Five goals or guiding principles will shape the strategic vision for redevelopment within the study area. Together, the consultant team, stakeholder advisory team and technical advisory team are exploring the following five draft goals and discussing examples of their implementation.

Please review the following draft goals and provide us with your feedback. Are we on the right track? How might these be implemented? Did we miss anything?

NOTE: After you submit the survey, you will be asked to sign up or log in so that your response (with or without your name) can be posted on the forum for others to see. While we encourage you to share your ideas on the website, this part is not required. We will still receive your feedback even if you choose not to sign up or post your ideas online. Thank you for your feedback!
