Vision: Portland is one of the most globally competitive, healthy and equitable cities in the world.
Goal: the goal of this strategy is to harness and expand PDC's tools for job creation, place-making, and economic opportunity to achieve widely shared prosperity among all resident of Portland.
The following are the 5 main objectives of the Plan. Let us know how important each objective is to you:
What do you like about the Plan?
It is not specific enough. These goals are too broadly defined and have no tangible accountability to the community.
Does anything in the Plan need greater emphasis? Please explain.
What is your specific plan for helping poor and minorities create wealth and invest in their own houses and how much of this plan will be in the form of immediately available affordable housing that will fill the immediate need in the Metro region and how much of this will be in trusts to help keep the history and style of Portland intact and keep rent rates under control?
What is missing from the Plan? Please share your advice:
Real face to face public testimony that covers all topics not just premeditated method of questioning that makes you look like you care but actually do not.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
Housing rates and availabilities have become ridiculous over the last few years and are quickly escalating further out of control. When can we expect a correction of the missing units of affordable housing that were promised in the last several plans? How do plan on protecting the Portland area from predatory lending, scams, vulture development companies and other sprawl contributors that have ruined much of the rest of the countries inner cities? How do plan on encouraging more minorities to move here from around the rest of the country and how do plan on not just establishing their wealth but their presence in the city's leadership?
