The Montgomery County Planning Board will review, for approval, several applications from private telecommunications carriers requesting to colocate their equipment on existing structures on Montgomery Parks property to improve wireless telecommunications services in the area.
The applications include proposed installations of equipment on already existing radio/cell towers, monopole and ground equipment compounds at Wheaton Regional Park, Sligo Creek Golf Course and Blair Local Park.
Park staff evaluated each of the three applications for impact to the Park where proposed, including environmental, aesthetics, disturbance, and Park user impacts. Since the three applicants will colocate on existing tower sites for the same use, the impact on the three Parks will be minimal. Each application has also received a recommendation from the Montgomery County Tower Coordinating Group’s (TFCG), which reviews applications against zoning and engineering requirements. Therefore, Park staff is recommending Planning Board approval of the three applications.
Please visit the Montgomery Planning Board Agenda Web page for further information and updates on Planning Board date and time, which are subject to change.
We are seeking public input on the applications and asking the public to share their thoughts on our Open Town Hall Page. Tell Us What You Think!
