Background
Wheaton Regional Park is nestled in a forested area of Wheaton, Maryland. It was established in the early 1960s. It is the largest and one of the most popular parks in the southern region of Montgomery County. It's time to update the park to reflect the many changes that have occurred over the last 30 plus years. Please visit the park project page for more background on the park.
The Park Today and the Master Plan Update
The park is separated into three distinct areas:
As we update the master plan, we will address various topics including infrastructure, amentities, natural resources, maintenance and operations and cultrual heritage and interpretation. More information about these topics is available on the project page.
Project timeline
Montgomery Parks will be collecting input from the community from Fall 2020 through Spring 2021. Based on the input, a master plan update will be presented to the Montgomery County Planning Board in late Spring 2021.
