Montgomery Parks is seeking feedback on two different athletic field lighting projects at Damascus Recreational Park:

Project 1 is a near-term project to install lighting at Field 1 (90 ft. Baseball Diamond) and Field 2 (Softball Diamond) to extend permitted use of the fields beyond sunset. The project includes new International Dark Sky compliant lighting, ballfield turf upgrades, drainage upgrades, ADA and access upgrades, parking lot improvements, and other improvements to the area surrounding Fields 1 and 2.
Project 2 is a future proposal to light the rectangular fields 5-8 to extend permitted use beyond sunset. Montgomery Parks is currently exploring the feasibility of this project. Public input will help inform the ultimate direction of the project. The scope of the project may include Dark Sky compliant lighting for one or more of the rectangular fields, ballfield upgrades, drainage upgrades, ADA and access upgrades, parking lot improvements, access road lighting and improvements, and other related renovations to the area surrounding the rectangular fields.

The comment period will be open until December 15, 2023.
