A lovely design that will be underutilized unless it's accessible to pedestrians. The park needs to be linked with communities living on and north of Piney Branch through a safe pedestrian walkway over Piney Branch and improved, wider sidewalks along Piney Branch.
Please share any ideas for park improvements or amenities you would like to see in Long Branch-Garland Park.
In addition to the playground, improvements to stream management are critical to improve the health of the natural space and make the park more enjoyable.
It appears to be a lot to pack into a small space. It seems like this park improvement is trying to do and be everything. This is one park in a densely populated community with multiple dilapidated and under-invested park spaces. We live 1.5 miles away, and there are several other similar local parks that we visit that also need updates. All of the proposed amenities are important and valuable to different people, and I like the multi-generational approach. But instead of packing it all into this one space, the other parks in the area also urgently need improvements, and park planning should take into account what these spaces offer and how improvements across all parks can complement each other.
