  • What are the most pressing unmet mental health needs in the City of Berkeley?

not only must the city direct services to people who are impacted by social determinants of health, such as race, poverty, etc., but the long term impacts of the trauma of the corona virus situation, the loss, the grief, the impacts on families and children and the elderly

  • What are your ideas on the best ways to address these needs?

there are people in alameda county addressing ACES which will be exacerbated in this crisis, you should form teams and alliances to address these problems together; remember the parents of children who experience ACES also probably experienced them too. work with existing city agencies and commissions to maximize effort, realize you are doing essential work and find ways to keep your spirits up.

  • Is there anything else you would like to share regarding mental health services and needs in the City of Berkeley?

as always, mental health services are undervalued and underfunded but especially needed in times like these; make the most of resources, of long term follow up, of volunteers who can help; do not forget the young and elderly who most need these services, work with berkeley city commissions who are also trying to help these populations, get support from each other and realize you are doing essential work.
