Dear Neighbors,

The City of Asheville is moving to a new public engagement platform, and we hope that you will move with us. The new platform is more robust and will allow us to do more than just surveys. PublicInput, our new provider, will give us access to create dynamic surveys, host online meetings, and it is more user friendly. The software is highly regarded in several North Carolina cities such as Charlotte, Raleigh, and Durham. We believe this transition will allow us to better engage those living in our community on issues that matter.

Please visit Public Input and subscribe to our new tool. We look forward to engaging and hearing from all of our residents.

Thank you for always engaging with us!

Earlier this year, the City of Asheville held a public meeting about downtown development issues. City Council is interested in making changes to development rules for the Central Business District. These rules were last written in 2010, after the adoption of the Downtown Master Plan in 2009. The recent surge in downtown development has caused some reconsideration of how projects are reviewed.

Council has indicated that they would like to review more projects in the Central Business District.  Also, City Council and some citizens have expressed concerns about the review process for hotels in downtown.

So City staff used the online engagement tool, Open City Hall Asheville, to gather more feedback. Again, thank you for your participation and many comments!
