What other concerns or suggestions do you have about housing?
While I do not personally experience housing issues, I know that many people in our community do. There is not enough housing stock that is decent and affordable. Housing costs are too high compared to local wages. People are forced to live in unsafe neighborhoods, substandard units, overcrowded situations, far from work and school, etc. And too many people spend more than 30% of their income on housing. That leaves an insufficient amount for other necessities like healthcare/medicine, reliable transportation, nutritious food, etc. People who work in Asheville and contribute to our city's vibrancy, should be able to afford to live here.
