Have you had any of the following issues with buying or renting property in the 4-county area?
Could not find suitable and affordable option
Please tell us more about any issues you have experienced buying or renting.
There is an extreme lack of affordable housing in the Asheville area. Complexes are being built at an extraordinary rate but that comes with insane prices. It is hard to find a livable wage in Asheville that allows you to find housing in which you feel is safe, comfortable and enjoyable. Furthermore, when one has to settle for run down housing (which is still absurdly expensive in many cases), one is also forced to spend extra money and time on repairs, medical bills due to mold exposure, gas expenses due to farther commutes, etc. There needs to be a change in affordable housing in Asheville, because as of right now there is NOT affordable housing in Asheville.
Do you have any of the following problems with your current residence (check all that apply)?
Please tell us more about the problems with your current residence.
Lots of internal issues in the apartment along with external neighbor issues.
What other concerns or suggestions do you have about housing?
I work in the nonprofit field and assist many people with applying for housing assistance. I struggle with these things myself, and considering the long waitlist for housing assistance, I think it is clear that something needs to change.
