The City of Tamarac participates in the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program. This State program provides grant funding to municipalities to help deliver safe, decent and affordable housing for very low, low and moderate income families.
In order to continue to participate in this program, the City is required to develop a local housing assistance plan and housing incentive strategy. Tamarac’s draft Local Housing Assistance Plan sets out the framework for the City’s housing program for three upcoming fiscal years (FY2016/2017, FY2017/2018, and FY2018/2019). It includes the following programs:
-
Purchase assistance (with or without property rehabilitation)
-
Owner occupied property rehabilitation assistance
-
Emergency repair assistance
-
Disaster repair or mitigation assistance
As part of our planning process, we’d like to hear from our residents. You can download the draft plan and share your thoughts here on Open City Hall by June 3rd. Just click on “Add Your Comment” below. Your comments will be considered when finalizing the plan.
The Local Housing Assistance Plan will be considered by the Planning Board on June1st, 2016 and presented for the City Commission’s adoption at the public hearing on June 8th, 2016. You may attend any of these meetings and share your comments in person. If you have questions, please contact Coleen Christie at [email protected] or (954) 597-3549.
