If you could plan for the future, what programs and facilities would you like to see added to the City of Tamarac parks and recreation system?

Thank you for participating!

Plan Adopted

Thank you for your feedback.  You raised multiple great points; all of which were reviewed by our Master Plan consultants along with other input (resident focus group meetings, public workshops, surveys, interviews, etc...).

The initial findings indicated that Tamarac residents are satisfied with the existing parks and recreation system and would like to see it expanded.  The top priorities appeared to include increased access to parks across all modes of transportation (pedestrian, bicycle, vehicular and transit) and added comforts (shade trees, shade structures, water fountains, seating areas).  Residents also told us that they’d like us to continue offering and expand some high-quality amenities and facilities that are important to them (indoor fitness and exercise facilities, picnic areas and shelters, walking and biking trails, dog park, etc...).

Your input helped bring forward a new vision for Tamarac's parks and recreation system. The City Commission  adopted the Parks, Recreation, and Social Services Master Plan on May 13th, 2015.  You may watch the presentation made at the City Commission Workshop on our website.  (Download Master Plan Executive Summary.)

Some recommendations from this Master Plan were included in our Strategic Plan; for example, the continuation of the citywide bikeway and walkway projects, development of Waters Edge Park, development of the Aquatic Center Annex and Caporella Park enhancements.  These projects will take place in the future and each will be brought before the City Commission for approval.

We are committed to ensuring a high quality of life for all Tamarac residents.  Thus, we will work on partnering with the neighborhood associations, sharing our knowledge to help them provide the residents with additional recreation and activity options.  Similarly, we will seek partnerships with the community organizations to increase special needs programming in the City.  Finally, residents on the East side expressed an interest in a dog park.  As a result, the newly opened Mainlands Park is dog-friendly to allow you to enjoy a day in a park with your favorite pet.

Thanks for your help keeping Tamarac “The City For Your Life”!
